Building & Construction Foundation Trade Network

The Building & Construction Foundation Trade Network connects businesses and industry professionals with opportunities to support Foundation program delivery through employment pathways, work experience, mentoring, site visits, industry exposure, professional expertise and practical connections.

By connecting with industry, the Foundation aims to strengthen pathways into construction and support the development of a skilled and sustainable future workforce.

Why Join the Trade Network?

Trade Network Partners contribute to participant pathways in a range of ways, depending on the capacity and expertise of their business. Opportunities may include:

  • Employment and apprenticeships
  • Work experience, trade exposure and supervised industry experience opportunities
  • Site visits and industry exposure
  • Mentoring and career guidance
  • Sharing industry knowledge and expertise
  • Volunteering through the Youth Industry Immersion Program

Partners are also invited to regular Trade Network events and Foundation initiatives and activities, where these opportunities align with their interests and capacity. “Powerwise is proud to support the Building & Construction Foundation and its work creating genuine pathways into the construction industry for people who face barriers to getting a start. An important part of that work is improving gender balance and creating more opportunities for women to build successful careers in the industry. Our experience engaging with the Foundation through its Women in Construction program and as a Trade Network partner has been fantastic. When we needed to recruit, we wanted to create an opportunity for someone coming through one of the Foundation’s programs. That led us to Maggie, and we couldn’t be happier. Maggie has been an incredible addition to Powerwise. She is engaged, proactive, committed and always willing to learn. She is genuinely one of the best apprentices we have ever had and an absolute asset to our business. We will absolutely continue working with the Foundation when future opportunities arise. It allows us to support dedicated people who may simply need an opportunity and some practical assistance to enter the industry, while also connecting our business with committed people who add real value to our team.”

“In our recent experience supporting Nadinda, we’ve seen how important it is to create real pathways into the trades, particularly for women. Her success in breaking into a career re-affirms our commitment as Trade Network partners and clearly illustrates the value of these opportunities. When given the opportunity, women bring a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a great attitude, benefiting both the team and the broader industry.”

“Working with the Building and Construction Foundation has been a great experience, and it’s been fantastic to see the support they’ve provided Ailish to get her start in the industry. We consider ourselves lucky to have been connected with her - the passion, drive, and enthusiasm she brings is exactly what we look for in a first-year apprentice, and she’s fit into the team extremely well. We’re strong believers in increasing gender diversity across the trades, and we’re proud to play a part in creating pathways for women like Ailish to build meaningful careers as the industry continues to evolve into a more sustainable and diverse workforce”
