Meet Niloofar Davarpanah, affectionately known as Niloo – a spirited immigrant from Iran whose story embodies the pursuit of dreams against all odds.
Driven by a desire to explore opportunities free from the constraints of gender roles, she sought a place where her aspirations in the construction industry could flourish. In 2023, Niloofar decided to migrate to Australia, leaving everything she knew and everyone she loved in Iran. Niloo’s parents, her role models, always encouraged her to break boundaries and follow her dreams.
Language barriers, culture shock and homesickness, along with the various challenges of moving to a new country tested her resolve, yet she remained determined.
After being awarded a Building and Construction Foundation Scholarship through our partnership with the Holmesglen Foundation Hardship and Wellbeing Program, Niloofar recently completed her Diploma in Building and Construction at Holmesglen Institute. Here, amidst a supportive community, she found not just education, but a sense of belonging.
Thanks to our scholarship and the nurturing atmosphere at Holmesglen, Niloo has contributed to an inclusive and welcoming student community. As an accomplished engineer, she has not only excelled in her own studies but has also generously mentored and guided her classmates, helping them succeed in their academic pursuits.
